- Bazaruto Island sand dunes & viewpoints — Those huge, sculpted dunes feel almost otherworldly: climb a short slope and you get a raw panorama of white sand, turquoise sea and scattered sandbanks. Perfect for sunrise/sunset photos and a quick, rewarding scramble without needing real hiking gear.
- Dugong seagrass meadows — The park protects one of Mozambique’s last strongholds for dugongs. You’re most likely to spot them from a slow boat or snorkel trip over the big seagrass beds where these shy “sea cows” graze.
- Coral reefs around Benguerra & Santa Carolina — Clear water and healthy coral gardens make for excellent diving and snorkeling: colorful reef fish, coral formations, and the occasional manta or large pelagic passing by. Visibility is usually great; bring a mask and you’ll see why

- Big-pelagic action: whale sharks, manta rays & humpbacks (seasonal) — Depending on the time of year you can encounter whale sharks, migrating humpbacks and manta rays. Sightings aren’t guaranteed, but when they happen it’s epic—boats often run short trips specifically to look for these giants.
- Turtle nesting beaches — Several islands in the park are important nesting grounds for sea turtles. In nesting season you can see tracks, nests or even hatchlings released at night—respect the rules and local guides for the best, least disruptive experience.
- Benguerra’s interior walks, baobabs & birdlife — Step off the beach and you’ll find a different landscape: scrub, sparse woodland, big baobabs and good birding. Short guided walks here are relaxed and rewarding for anyone who likes plants, birds and low-effort exploring.
- Santa Carolina (Paradise Island) & its rock pools — A small, dramatic island with rocky coastline, natural pools and brilliant snorkeling close to shore. It feels remote and photogenic—an easy day trip that combines shallow-water snorkeling with some postcard-perfect scenery.
