- Concordia — The junction where the Baltoro and Godwin-Austen glaciers meet, and where you get that jaw-dropping panorama of K2, Broad Peak and the Gasherbrum massif all piled up together. The scale here is unreal — walls of rock and ice rising around you — and the light at sunrise/sunset makes the whole place glow. (Personal favorite.)
- K2 Base Camp — Standing on the moraine below K2’s icefall is a different kind of silence: raw, rugged, and dominated by the mountain itself. You feel the expedition vibe — crampons, ropes, radio chatter in the distance — and it’s rare to be so close to a truly iconic 8000-meter peak without technical climbing.
- Baltoro Glacier — One of the largest non-polar glaciers you can hike on. The walk along its moraines, across melt streams and around towering seracs

- Baltoro Glacier — One of the largest non-polar glaciers you can hike on. The walk along its moraines, across melt streams and around towering seracs changes every day; the scale of the ice river and the noisy crevasses gives the whole trek a glacial, otherworldly quality that most trails don’t have.
- Gondogoro La viewpoint — If you take the Gondogoro La exit (a steep, often snowy pass), the payoff is a nearly 360° sweep of the Karakoram: K2, Broad Peak, the Gasherbrums, Masherbrum. It’s a tougher, more exposed route than the standard return, but the view and the sense of having crossed a real high pass make it unforgettable.
- Askole and Balti village life — The last inhabited village before the high mountains; seeing the stone houses, yaks, and porters organizing loads is a reminder that this wild landscape is lived in. The tea, friendly banter, prayer flags and simple hospitality add a human layer that contrasts beautifully with the glacier drama ahead.
