- Turbacz (the highest peak) — The obvious must-see: 1,310 m, a short scramble up from the main ridge and one of the best viewpoint spots in the park. On a clear day you can pick out the Tatras and Pieniny in the distance; there’s also a friendly PTTK mountain hut where you can crash for the night or grab a hot meal.

- Primeval beech and fir forests — Thick, old-growth stands dominate the slopes; the light filtering through the mossy trunks is the classic Carpathian forest vibe. These woods are great for quiet walks and birdwatching, and they give the park that “ancient mountain” feel.
- Wildlife spotting — Gorce isn’t zoos-and-safari, but it’s real mountain nature: look for capercaillie, black storks, roe deer and signs of larger carnivores (tracks or howls from wolves and, occasionally, lynx). Dawn and dusk are the best times to be quiet and patient.
- Ridge hikes and connecting trails — The park’s network of marked trails makes for satisfying multi-hour ridge walks: steady climbs, runnable descents and plenty of viewpoint gaps. You can stitch together a nice loop from lower valleys up onto the Turbacz ridge without repeating the same scenery.
- Mountain huts (PTTK schroniska) and simple overnighting — Staying in a hut is part of the Gorce experience: basic beds, soup and warm company. It lets you start or finish hikes early and keeps the trip cheap compared with hotels.
- Quiet river valleys and streams — Small, clear streams cut the lower slopes and make for refreshing rest stops. The valleys feel intimate and green — great for cooling down after a sun-exposed ridge or scouting for amphibians and stream birds.
