- Kolpa River (swimming and paddling) — The star of the show: warm, clear water that invites long swims, leisurely kayak runs and lazy days on pebble beaches. Look for kingfishers darting along the banks and the occasional otter at dawn. (Personal favorite — nothing beats a sunset dip after a day of walking.)
- Floodplain oak-hornbeam forests — Old, shady riparian woods right beside the river. Great for a cool walk, mushroom and wildflower season, and concentrated birdlife that’s easy to spot from quiet paths.
- Oxbow lakes and wet meadows — Little side-water bodies and marshy meadows formed by the river’s bends. Excellent for birdwatching (waders, ducks) and dragonflies, especially in spring and early summer.
- Limestone cliffs and small gorges — Scattered rocky outcrops give you short climbs

- Limestone cliffs and small gorges — Scattered rocky outcrops give you short climbs and viewpoints over the valley. Not alpine drama, but rewarding panoramas and good spots for photos at golden hour.
- Marked hiking and cycling trails — A network of easy-to-moderate loops and riverside routes that link beaches, viewpoints and villages. Perfect for day hikes or bike trips without needing alpine gear.
- Quiet riverside villages and old bridges — Tiny settlements along the Kolpa feel unchanged: mellow cafés, hand-launched boat ramps, and a few historic bridges that make nice rest stops while you explore the landscape.
- Night sky and summer wildlife displays — Low light pollution means clear stars; in summer you can also spot bats and, in some meadow pockets, fireflies at dusk. A calm, natural way to end the day.
