- Scuba diving the Sanganeb pinnacle — This reef is a vertical coral tower rising out of deep water, so dives go from shallow gardens to dramatic drop-offs swarming with life. Visibility is usually excellent and you’ll often see turtles, reef sharks and big schools of fish right along the walls. My personal favorite — nothing beats hovering over that chimney of coral while fish flow past.
- Snorkeling the shallow coral gardens — Unlike crowded tourist beaches, Sanganeb’s shallow patches are incredibly healthy: table corals, dense coral fingers and lots of tame reef fish. It’s perfect for a relaxed surface wander where the colors and coral shapes feel almost untouched.

- Pelagic watches from a boat — Because Sanganeb sits on deep water, short boat trips can turn up large pelagics — groups of tuna, jacks, and occasional larger sharks cruising the drop-off. It’s the kind of quick, thrilling wildlife pick-me-up you can get between dives without traveling far.
- Night dives/snorkels to meet the reef after dark — Night changes everything: sleeping corals expand, crustaceans and nudibranchs come out, and hunting reef predators show different behaviors. Night outings here are especially rewarding because the reef is so healthy; bring a good light and go with a guide who knows the spots.
- Boat trips, camping and stargazing off the reef — Remote sand cays and boat-deck camping give you a real “out there” feel: morning plunges, sunset over the pinnacle and near-complete darkness for brilliant stars. Low light pollution makes the Milky Way pop—great for photographers or anyone who likes to sleep to ocean noise.
