Your boots hit the slick wooden boardwalk and the air changes first—warm, eggy, and wet enough that your shirt clings to your back before you even see the water. Drips echo off the limestone, turquoise pools glow under cheap colored lights, and somewhere above, a rooster from the village cuts through the cave’s hollow quiet. This is Kaklik Cave, near Denizli in southwestern Türkiye, basically Pamukkale’s weird underground cousin. It’s cheap, small, and rarely crowded, which I love, but it’s also a bit kitschy and over-lit, with limited “wow” if you’ve already done big caves or Pamukkale itself. Still, for backpackers, it’s an easy, low-cost detour with strong photo potential and a pleasantly scruffy, local-park vibe rather than a polished world wonder.
