- Oskil River valley — the spine of the park, with braided channels, sandy islands and shifting banks that create a constantly changing landscape. Great for slow boat trips or long riverside walks and an obvious place to spot waterbirds and beavers from the shore.
- Steppe plateaus and grasslands — fragments of true East-Ukrainian steppe survive here, with open vistas, spring wildflower carpets and plenty of insects. Those wide views are worth it just to watch the light move across the grass.
- Floodplain forests and old oak stands — shady, knobbly trees and a rich understory line the river; these patches host woodpeckers, passerines and a surprising variety of fungi and mosses. Nice contrast after the exposed steppe.

- Birdwatching hotspots — the park sits on a migration route, so seasonal concentrations of waterfowl, herons and raptors are common. Bring binoculars and check river bends and reed edges.
- Hiking trails and observation points — a mix of short loops and longer trails that cross steppe, forest and riverbank, with a few small viewpoints giving panoramic river-and-plain photos. Trails are mostly low-difficulty but can be exposed, so pack sun protection and water.
- Spring wildflower meadows — when the snow melts the meadows explode with color; look closely and you’ll find specialist steppe plants and lots of pollinators. Best time: late April-May, depending on the year.
