- Botanical Garden beds and seasonal blooms — Compact, well-kept planting beds filled with azaleas, rhododendrons, roses and conifers. It’s the place for close-up plant photography and to see cultivated displays that contrast nicely with the wild forest nearby; best in spring when the colors pop.
- Indigenous mountain forest and fern gullies — Cool, mossy gullies, tree ferns and cycads create a lush, almost rainforest feel. The shaded trails here are peaceful, great for slow walking and botanizing. (Personal favorite — I always linger here.)
- Birdwatching hotspots — The mix of garden, plantation and native forest attracts a wide range of highland and forest birds. Expect sunbirds, batises and other small forest species; bring binoculars and a quiet hour at dawn or dusk.
- Panoramic lookouts

- Panoramic lookouts — Several viewpoints give sweeping views over Mutare, the Mozambique lowveld and the layered Eastern Highlands. Clear mornings and late afternoons are best for the light and cooler temps.
- Wildlife sightings: monkeys and small antelope — Samango monkeys are often seen in the trees and you may spot shy small antelope (bushbuck/duiker) at the forest edge. Not a big game park, but nice for close, low-key encounters.
- Hiking and nature-walk trails — A network of short to moderate walks links the gardens, forests and viewpoints. Trails are straightforward; wear grippy shoes and plan for changing weather up in the highlands.
- Picnic spots and quiet corners — Scattered benches, picnic lawns and small ponds make for relaxed breaks between walks. Good for a lunch stop and for soaking up the calm without needing a long trek.
