Italy Itinerary Planner

Seven days or twenty-one, you set the length, and the route bends to fit. Tell us whether you want villages over big cities, hikes over museum queues, beaches over everything, and pick a pace that suits you. Add a start, an end or a must-see like the Colosseum, and the plan builds around it. Skip the generic highlights loop that crams every famous name into one week. A route that matches your priorities beats one that tries to please everyone, because you spend your days on what you actually came for.

🙋 FAQCommon questions before you plan

Seven days is enough for a focused trip built around one or two areas, 14 days lets you link several regions at a comfortable pace, and 21 days suits a slow journey from north to south. Trying to cover the whole country in under a week just means a lot of time in transit.
Yes, Italy borders France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia, and all four are easy to reach overland from the north. Croatia and Malta are also close, across the Adriatic and the Mediterranean respectively, and both pair well with a coastal Italian trip.

Build a multi-country route
Yes. Stops are sequenced to minimize backtracking and grouped by how close they are to each other, and your chosen travel pace (fast, normal, or slow) adjusts how much ground each day covers.
Absolutely. Adjust your trip length, interests, starting point, or travel style and generate a new route in seconds.
Yes, generating and viewing your route is completely free. An offline-friendly PDF version is available as an optional purchase which gives more detailed information for each location on your route.

🗺️ RegionsGetting a feel for the geography

Italy is long and narrow, and the distances catch people out. Rome and Venice are a real trip apart, and the Dolomites sit even farther north, so trying to cover everything in one go means more time looking out a window than looking at anything worth seeing. Skip the all-in sprint. A route that stays in one stretch of the country and goes deeper gives you more for your days. The planner keeps nearby places together and moves you in one direction, so you spend your time at the Colosseum or on a trail, not backtracking over ground you have already covered.

⚙️ How it worksHow your trip comes together

The planner first groups stops that sit close together, so you never zigzag across the country for one attraction and then double back for another. Pick your trip length, your interests and your pace, and it sorts the matching places into clusters by geography. Then it picks one sensible direction through those clusters, so your route moves steadily from one area to the next instead of criss-crossing. Finally, it decides how long each stop deserves. A city or town with several attractions close by becomes a base where you stay longer, and the smaller spots around it turn into day trips. Take Rome. If you pick landmarks and cities, Rome has so many matching places packed together that it earns several nights, and nearby smaller stops become easy outings from the same bed. A lone village with nothing else around gets a shorter visit, because a long stay there would leave you with empty hours. That is why the route is worth following: time goes where there is plenty to see, and not where there is little.
