🙋 FAQThings travelers often ask

A short trip of around 7 days covers one or two areas well, around 14 days lets you link the north, center and south at a steady pace, and 21 days gives room for national parks, hikes and quiet villages without rushing.
Yes. Vietnam borders Cambodia, Laos and China, and Cambodia and Laos are the easiest to pair with it on one backpacking trip, since they share the Mekong region and the overland borders are well used. Thailand sits a short hop away and fits the same Southeast Asia loop.

Build a multi-country route
Yes. Stops are sequenced to minimize backtracking and grouped by how close they are to each other, and your chosen travel pace (fast, normal, or slow) adjusts how much ground each day covers.
Absolutely. Adjust your trip length, interests, starting point, or travel style and generate a new route in seconds.
Yes, generating and viewing your route is completely free. An offline-friendly PDF version is available as an optional purchase which gives more detailed information for each location on your route.

🗺️ RegionsHow spread out things are

Vietnam is long and thin, and the distances add up fast. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City sit roughly 1,700 kilometers apart, so squeezing both into a short trip means more time getting there than being there. Mekong Delta canals, with their floating markets at sunrise, belong to a very different corner of the country from the cliffs and caves of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. The planner groups nearby places together, so you linger in one area, eat the local specialties, and move on without criss-crossing the map.

⚙️ How it worksBuilding your route, step by step

You choose how many days you have, which interests pull you (cities and towns, villages, landmarks, national parks, hikes, beaches, attractions) and how fast you like to move. Then the planner gets to work. First, it gathers nearby places into clusters, so you spend your days wandering one area instead of burning them on backtracking. Next, it picks a sensible direction through those clusters, so your route flows in one sweep and never zigzags. Finally, it sets the time at each stop by what the stop is and how much sits around it. Take Hanoi: with several sights packed close together, it becomes a base where you stay longer, then smaller spots nearby turn into easy day trips. You walk the Old Quarter lanes, slurp a bowl of noodles at a plastic stool, then head out for the day and come back to the same bed. A lone, remote spot gets a shorter slot, enough to enjoy it without padding. That is why every suggested route makes sense on the ground.
