Everyone arrives at Ksamil Beach expecting some untouched Mediterranean fantasy; in reality, you’re sharing that fantasy with half of Europe and a lot of plastic sun loungers. Ksamil sits on Albania’s southern Ionian coast, just south of Sarandë and a quick hop from the Greek border, so it’s absurdly easy to reach and equally easy to overcrowd. For backpackers, it’s a trade: the water really is that electric blue, the sand is softer than most Albanian beaches, and swimming to the little islets feels like a cheap luxury. But the main strip gets packed, prices are higher than elsewhere in Albania, and cleanliness drops fast once you step beyond the curated beachfront. The vibe is beach-club-lite rather than laid‑back village.
