- Beach with ridiculously white silica sand and chill roos: The sand here is almost painfully white and powdery — perfect for sprawled-out laziness — but the real show is kangaroos that sunbathe and hop right onto the shoreline. Not a zoo trick: they’re wild and relaxed, especially at dawn and late afternoon, so keep your distance, don’t feed them, and enjoy the surreal combo of roos + tropical-blue water.
- Swimming and easy snorkeling in clear, shallow water: The bay grips warm, calm water with a shallow gradient for tens of metres, so you can wade a long way before it gets deep. Visibility’s good on calm days and there are rocky edges and seagrass patches to poke around — bring reef shoes and a mask. Best during the day when the swell is low; check conditions before heading out.

- Short but spectacular hike to the granite high ground: A steepish scramble up the nearby granite gives panoramic views back over the perfect white crescent and the Southern Ocean — great for perspective, wildlife spotting and photographers who want the sand-to-sea contrast. It’s a solid half-day activity: take water, wear good shoes, and plan morning starts to beat the heat.
- Camping under the stars (and night wildlife): Staying overnight at the designated campsites here is the best way to experience the place once day-trippers leave. The skies are dark and the Milky Way pops on clear nights; you’ll also catch kangaroos moving around in the dusk and dawn. Book a campsite and follow park rules — fires and camping outside designated spots aren’t allowed in most areas.
- Sunrise/sunset photography and low-tide exploration: The combination of mirror-like water, bone-white sand and granite outcrops makes for stunning light at low sun. Low tide exposes rock pools and little marine life to scan with a small net or camera — superb for closeups and dramatic wide shots. Early morning light usually beats the crowds and the midday glare.
