- Chinese Fishing Nets (Fort Kochi Waterfront) — The iconic cantilevered nets along the shore are great at sunrise or sunset; watching fishermen haul in a catch by hand is a timeless, photogenic slice of Kochi’s working waterfront.
- St. Francis Church — One of India’s oldest European churches, with a simple, history-soaked interior and Vasco da Gama’s original (and moved) tomb; small, humble, and oddly moving when you imagine the layers of sea-route history.
- Mattancherry (Dutch) Palace — Built by the Portuguese and renovated by the Dutch, the palace has vivid mural paintings of the Ramayana and Kerala rulers’ portraits; a compact museum that actually rewards a slow walk-through.
- Paradesi Synagogue, Jew Town — The beautiful, still-working synagogue with hand-painted floor tiles and old chandeliers

- Paradesi Synagogue, Jew Town — The beautiful, still-working synagogue with hand-painted floor tiles and old chandeliers sits at the heart of Jew Town; the surrounding lanes sell antiques, spices and stories you won’t find in guidebooks.
- Jew Town Bazaar — Narrow lanes packed with spice shops, antique stores and tiny cafés; more than shopping, it’s a sensory walk where the architecture and the traders’ stories do half the work.
- Kashi Art Cafe & Fort Kochi Street Art — A creative hub tucked into Fort Kochi’s lanes; the café’s walls and nearby streets are covered in local art, making it the best place to soak up the town’s bohemian side while grabbing good coffee.
- Indo-Portuguese Museum — A lesser-visited gem that showcases the hybrid material culture—furniture, religious artefacts and costumes—that arose from centuries of Portuguese presence; small but richly curated.
- Kerala Folklore Museum (Thevara) — Troves of folk art, ritual masks and traditional performance gear laid out like a living archive; it’s great if you want depth on Kerala’s performing traditions without traveling far.
- Kerala Kathakali Centre (make-up & show) — Catch a live Kathakali performance and the pre-show make-up ritual; the up-close painting of faces is theatrical, educational and a proper cultural experience rather than a staged photo op.
- Bolgatty Palace & Island — A restored Dutch palace on an island with gardens, a short ferry ride away; even if you don’t stay at the hotel, the palace grounds and harbour views make for a peaceful break from the bustle.
