- Surfing and reef breaks — Consistent swell and a mix of sandy and reef breaks mean surfers of different levels can find something, from mellow longboard rides to punchier reef waves. The lineup stays fairly uncrowded compared with classic surf towns, and evening sessions at low light give proper sunset-gold surf vibes without having to elbow for a peak.
- Night marine magic — bioluminescence and night dives — On calm nights the plankton sometimes light up and the water glows when you paddle through it; totally otherworldly. If you’re a diver, night dives here reveal a different cast of characters — crabs, sleeping fish, and weird nocturnal life you won’t see by day. Bring a headlamp and an open mind.
- Local fishing-village life and fresh seafood — Tofo isn’t just a pretty strip of sand; it’s an active fishing community. Morning fish markets, dhows coming in at sunset, and beachside grills serving fresh prawns make eating here an experience. At night the beach fills with low-key gatherings, acoustic music and bonfires — relaxed, social and very local (no flashy clubs required).
