- Night drives and nocturnal wildlife — One of the few Rwandan parks that runs night safaris: hyenas, genets, bush babies and other nocturnal critters become easier to find. It’s a different rhythm from daytime game drives and often very rewarding.
- Short hikes and scenic viewpoints — There are straightforward walking trails and lookout spots over lakes and rolling hills that reward minimal effort with big views. Good for stretching your legs between drives and for sunrise or sunset panoramas.
- Wetland and papyrus ecosystems — The park’s mosaic of swamps, reedbeds and islands is ecologically rare for Rwanda and supports unique wildlife and plant life. Those wetlands are the reason for the rich birdlife and the concentrated amphibian/reptile encounters.
