- Crater lakes cluster — A handful of small volcanic crater lakes packed into a compact area; the glassy water and surrounding ridges make for excellent reflections and photographs at golden hour.
- Birdwatching for Samoan endemics — The upland forest hosts species you won’t easily see on the coast: Samoan fantails, myzomelas and other island specialists. The legendary Manumea (Samoa’s rare pigeon) is very shy, but the park is one of the better places to try your luck.

- Scenic lookouts — Small viewpoints give surprisingly wide views over Upolu’s interior and sometimes all the way to the coast on clear days. Great spots for a snack and to watch changing cloud patterns.
- Wetland plants and freshwater life — Margins of the lakes host lilies, swampy vegetation and lots of insect activity — dragonflies, riverine birds and small aquatic critters make the shoreline interesting to explore.
- Simple picnic and low-key camping spots — Facilities are basic but pleasant: picnic shelters and flat areas for a tent. Good for a relaxed day visit or an inexpensive overnight if you want to chase dawn light over the water.
