- Vibrant Coral Reefs & Snorkeling Gardens — Shallow, clear water shelves full of hard and soft corals make this one of the easiest and most rewarding snorkel spots in Sri Lanka. You don’t need to be an expert to see colorful reef fish a few metres from shore.
- Sea Turtles — Green and hawksbill turtles frequently graze on the seagrass and reef flats here. They’re relaxed around snorkelers, so you often get slow, unforgettable encounters rather than quick flashes.
- Two Islands — Big and Little Pigeon — The park is actually two small islands with different personalities: Big Pigeon has rocky outcrops and viewpoints; Little Pigeon offers quieter pools and easier swimming spots. Boats shuttle you between them in minutes.
- Easy Island Walks & Viewpoints — Short, effortless trails and rocky headlands

- Easy Island Walks & Viewpoints — Short, effortless trails and rocky headlands give panoramic views of Nilaveli beach, turquoise lagoons and the coastline. Great for quick hikes, photos, and a break from snorkeling.
- Rich Reef Fish & Occasional Rays — Schools of butterflyfish, parrotfish, angelfish and the occasional graceful ray are common. It’s a small ocean aquarium — bring a mask and you’ll see a surprising variety in a short swim.
- Seabirds & Shorebird Watching — The islands attract gulls, terns and other coastal birds; early morning or late afternoon are the best times to see them resting on rocks or hunting along the shallows.
- The Short Boat Ride from Nilaveli — The approach itself is part of the experience: boats cut across clear, shallow water with coastal scenery and a decent chance of spotting dolphins or flying fish on the way out.
