- Sunset boat or kayak trips to the hidden coves — The shoreline here folds into quiet bays and rocky inlets you can only reach by water; paddling or taking a small boat at golden hour turns the place from ”nice lake” into a proper, mirror-smooth scene with great reflections and very few other people. (Personal favorite.)
- Freshwater fishing from the rocks or a small boat — Anglers come for steady, no-fuss freshwater fishing right off the beach or from a punt. The shallow bays and rock points are good for casting and the whole vibe is slow and local — bring simple gear and ask locals about best bait and spots.

- Birdwatching around reed beds and the dam wall — The combination of open water, shoreline reeds and rocky outcrops concentrates waterbirds and raptors, so you’ll see everything from kingfishers and herons to fishing eagles up close. Early morning or late afternoon is when the action and light are best for photos.
- Shoreline camping and night skies — Camping on the banks here is special because there’s very little light pollution; campfires, frog choruses and clear Milky Way views make evenings memorable. It’s more about listening and stargazing than nightlife — bring a warm layer and a thermos.
- Short hikes to lookout points and the dam wall — A few short trails and granite outcrops give dramatic panoramas of the lake carved into the landscape; the dam wall itself is also worth a walk for perspectives you don’t get from the beach. Hike early for cooler temps and better wildlife sightings along the ridges.
