Iran Itinerary Planner

Pick your days, your interests and your pace, and the planner builds a route around them, so you never pay for a day that doesn’t fit. Skip the stops that don’t match your priorities, because a packed list of ten places in a week means more time in transit than looking. Add a start, an end or a must-see like Persepolis, and the route bends around it.

🙋 FAQFrequently asked questions

Seven days covers a short trip with a few cities, 14 days gives you room for a wider loop with some slower stops, and 21 days lets you add remote areas without rushing. Iran is large, so fewer places over more days almost always beats a fast tour.
Yes, Iran borders Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan, and Turkey and Armenia are the most practical to pair with it on a backpacking trip because the overland routes in the northwest are well established. Georgia is also easy to reach from Armenia, which makes a longer Caucasus route possible.

Build a multi-country route
Yes. Stops are sequenced to minimize backtracking and grouped by how close they are to each other, and your chosen travel pace (fast, normal, or slow) adjusts how much ground each day covers.
Absolutely. Adjust your trip length, interests, starting point, or travel style and generate a new route in seconds.
Yes, generating and viewing your route is completely free. An offline-friendly PDF version is available as an optional purchase which gives more detailed information for each location on your route.

🗺️ RegionsThe lay of the land

Iran is big, and its places sit far apart, so distance is the first thing that can wreck a tight plan. Persepolis and Golestan Palace are a long way from each other, and Mount Damavand is in another direction again. Trying to fit all three into a short trip eats your days and your budget in transit, with little time left to see anything. The planner keeps nearby places together and moves you in one direction rather than back and forth across the country. Don’t add far-flung extras for the sake of the map. Fewer, closer stops give you more time on the ground and fewer wasted hours.

⚙️ How it worksFrom your choices to a finished itinerary

The planner groups places that sit close together, so you don’t zigzag across a huge country and lose whole days to backtracking. Then it picks one sensible direction through those groups instead of criss-crossing, which saves you hours and money you would otherwise spend on repeat journeys. Each stop gets time based on its type and on how many other places surround it. A city with several attractions nearby becomes a base where you stay longer, and the smaller spots around it turn into day trips. Isfahan is a good example: with many sights close together, it earns several nights, and nearby smaller stops are fitted in as outings from the same bed rather than as separate moves. Don’t cram a base into one night just to tick off more names. A single-night stop costs you a packing morning and a lost afternoon, and it rarely pays back. Choose a slower pace if you want fewer moves.
