- Premužić Trail — An engineering gem: a well-graded, mostly single-track trail carved into the mountain in the 1930s that links spectacular viewpoints without brutal climbs. Walk parts of it for long, panoramic hikes above karst plateaus and forests while you still feel like you’re cheating at mountain walking.
- Hajdučki i Rožanski kukovi — A jagged world of limestone towers, cliffs and narrow ridges that feels almost lunar. It’s the place for dramatic rock scenery, short scrambles, and that “how did this form?” geology showpiece everyone photographs.
- Zavižan (meteorological station and botanical garden) — A compact mountain hub with a weather station, mountain hut and an alpine botanical garden where you can see high-mountain plants up close. Great base for short walks and for spotting

- Štirovača Primeval Beech Forest — A mossy, old-growth beech valley with shaded streams and a quiet, primeval feel—perfect if you want lush contrast to the exposed karst ridges. It’s one of the park’s most atmospheric, mood-setting spots.
- Endemic flora (Degenia and other Velebit specials) — Northern Velebit hosts plants you won’t see anywhere else, like Degenia velebitica, which blooms in spring on rocky ledges. Botanists and flower lovers consider this a major draw: tiny, colorful rewards if you time your visit right.
- Adriatic and island panoramas — From many ridges and lookouts you get sweeping views over Pag and the Adriatic islands that feel impossibly close to the mountains. Sunrise or sunset shots here are spectacular; even a short stop will make you glad you carried a camera.
- Wildlife and birds of prey — Expect chamois, deer, foxes and a healthy array of raptors wheeling over the cliffs. Sightings aren’t constant, but the park’s mix of forests, cliffs and open karst is excellent habitat—keep your eyes on the ridges and your ears for distant calls.
