- Pink granite boulders and sculpted rock formations — Massive, rounded granite blocks stacked like a giant’s building set. Wind and rain have sanded them into smooth, bizarre shapes you can scramble over; the textures and shadows are unlike the limestone or volcanic trails elsewhere in Morocco.
- Les Rochers Peints (the Painted Rocks) — Brightly sprayed boulders by artist Jean Vérame that pop against the natural pink stone. It’s a surreal, almost pop-art scene in the middle of the mountains and my personal favorite for photos and a quick, colorful mood boost on the trail.

- Aït Mansour Gorge (palm-lined wadi) — A narrow canyon with sheer cliffs and a cool, shady wadi dotted with palms. It’s a refreshing contrast to the exposed granite ridges and makes for easy, scenic walking and some sheltered picnic spots when the sun’s fierce.
- Sunset viewpoints and night sky — The low sun turns the granite neon; every viewpoint becomes a small theater of color. After dark the light pollution is basically nil, so if you camp up high you get the Milky Way stretching over those weirdly shaped boulders—magical and very different from the crowded desert camps.
