North Korea Itinerary Planner

Set your trip length, pick the interests that matter to you, and choose a pace that suits how you travel. You can add a start, an end and any stop you refuse to miss, such as Pyongyang. The planner then builds a day-by-day route around those choices, so the trip follows your priorities and nobody else's.

🙋 FAQThings travelers often ask

Around 5 days covers a short trip focused on one area, about 10 days gives room to link several areas at a steady pace, and 15 days suits a longer route with time to stay put in places.
The nearest practical neighbors are China, which shares the long northern border, and South Korea to the south. Russia also touches North Korea’s far northeast, near Rason, though it is a much less common pairing.

🗺️ RegionsPlanning a route across North Korea's regions

Distances in North Korea are long relative to the number of places on offer, and the sights are scattered rather than packed together. Pyongyang sits well inland on the west side, while Wonsan Beach is a long way east on the coast, and Mount Chilbo lies far to the northeast. The planner groups nearby locations and lays them out in one direction, so your days go to the places themselves and not to covering the same ground twice.

⚙️ How it worksFrom your choices to a finished itinerary

The planner starts with your trip length, your interests (any mix of cities and towns, villages, landmarks, national parks, hikes, beaches and attractions) and your style and pace. It then groups locations that sit close together, so you are not sent back and forth across the country for one stop. Next it picks a sensible direction through those groups and moves you along one line instead of criss-crossing. Each stop gets time based on its type and on how many other places are clustered around it. A city or town with several nearby attractions usually becomes a base where you stay longer, and the smaller spots around it are treated as day trips. Pyongyang is a good example: with many sights in and around it, it tends to get more nights than a single isolated stop, and the nearby places you picked are fitted in as outings from there. The result is a route where each choice has a visible reason, and you can see why a stop got one night and another got three.
